About Kas

Area Info - Kas and the surrounding area Kas, once named Antiphellos, is one of the pretty harbors of the province of Antalya. On the slope facing the sea there is a well-protected theater, behind that a necropolis, and on the hill there are rock tombs shaped like temples carved into the rocks.
The Lycian style sarcophagus grave now in the middle of the main street at the centrum is a symbol of this antique Lycian city. Kas harbor provides a breath taking stop for the yachts and boats alike. There are daily boat trips to the antique Kekova-Kale-Uc Agiz region starting out from Kas harbor. There are also cruises to the Greek island Meis across the harbor.
There are excellent restaurants, terrace bars and tea gardens, pretty cobbled streets and alleyways abundant with exclusive shops, craft centres and beaches in the town or a short drive away. You can enjoy a traditional Turkish massage, hamman or even experience a visit to the barbers where a haircut, shave and neck massage are all part of the deal.
There is a famous market on a Friday where you can practise your haggling down to a fine art and enjoy all the fresh produce direct from the local mountain villages. The town itself has many historical remains to explore and the Kas Amphitheatre is a perfect place to watch the sun go down when the collection of cliff tombs come alive to light up at night!
There are also many cultural and fascinating trips to enjoy including the sunken city of Kekova and for the active, scuba diving, sea kayaking and even paragliding. For those who need to keep in touch with work or home there are a number of well appointed Internet Cafes situated in the town centre providing life Internet access and communication.
Kas is simply a wonderful area of unspoilt Turkey.

Kekova Sea Kayaking
The exciting alternative to explore the famous Kekova region. At your own pace, paddle over the Sunken City and avoid the tourist rush hour.
The exciting alternative to explore the famous Kekova region. At your own pace, paddle over the Sunken City and avoid the tourist rush hour. Now an island, Kekova was once joined to the mainland but it suffered a series of earthquakes and these geological influences rendered it a city six metres below the sea.
The area is off-limits to swimmers and divers, so kayaking is the closest you can get to the underwater foundations, walls and mosaics dating back 2000 years. The group often disembarks at the village of Simena, inaccessible by road and surmounted by a castle with brilliant 360° views.
You will drive to Üçağız village, which takes about 45 minutes. A BCU-certified guide will inform you about the technical points of kayaking. You will then paddle over the Sunken City, Tersane Bay and Simena, where there is an optional visit to the castle. After a late lunch in Üçağız village, you will drive back at about 3 PM.

Meis (Kastellorizo)
A very pleasant day trip to a tiny Dodecanese island with a population of a couple hundred, sitting opposite the harbor of Kas. In the day time you could think it is uninhabited; and at night however, the lights of the houses, shops and restaurants along the promenade twinkle enticingly across the bay. Itinerary
10.00: Leave Kas for Meis.
10.20: Arrive at Meis. Clear customs.
15.30: Leave Meis for Kas.
15.50: Arrive at Kas. Clear customs.
There is quite a lot to see here. The harbor area is charming with a warren of alleys and houses behind the pretty watershops and restaurants. The churches dedicated to a variety of St Georges provide landmarks to find your way around, but you do not need to know much to enjoy the atmosphere
