KABAK BEACH
The area of Kabak is located one hour outside of Fethiye. It is one of the few remaining areas of the Turkish coast that has yet to be invaded by package holidays. The area is protected by the government, so it is a natural environment, with no construction. It is surrounded by beautiful beaches, turquoise seas and has mountains rising 700 metres on both sides, enclosing the valley. During the Caretta Caretta, Loggerhead Turtles breeding season, nests are marked off on the beaches to indicate the location of eggs and deter any form of interference. Kabak is well known for its wide variety of treks, including treks to the Blue Cave, the waterfalls, the circuit trek; which takes you from sea level to 900 metres about sea level and the town is also located on the Lycian Trade Way. The Lycian Trade Way is a historic long distance walking path between Fethiye and Antalya, which incorporates history and local scenic views. During most walks you will stumble upon an array of flora, including pines, firs, patches of thyme, lilacs and other wild flowers and herbs.
There are several campsites in Kabak and only are a few places offering bungalow and tree house accommodation. Most of the offering accommodation outlets will offer an unforgettable mule ride into the valley.
